Motion on Abbots Langley Carpark

Dear Residents of Abbots Langley

I am very sympathetic to your concerns over this motion as I am to the concerns of the residents of Rickmansworth to the imminent imposition of charges in the town’s car parks. I suggest however that you address your remarks to the leader of the Council Cllr Sarah Bedford who in recent meetings at Three Rivers to discuss the introduction of car parking charges in the District stated that the Abbots Langley car park was not fully used and that if charges were introduced the existing users would park in the adjoining streets as there was ample space for them to do so.

The Council led by the Liberal Democrats is proposing to demolish the only non-secular meeting hall (RVS Hall) in Rickmansworth and build 17 temporary modular units to accommodate the homeless. This is in a conservation area of historic importance. An underused car park, the words of Cllr Sarah Bedford, in Abbots Langley could be a much more appropriate location for such a hostel which is why we are proposing a report be prepared on its suitability.
