A survey of the condition of the nation’s roads has established that Hertfordshire is equal to or better than the national average in all categories assessed.
Over the past 4 years “A” roads have improved from 8% requiring attention to 3%. “B&C” roads have improved from 17% to 6%. Unclassified roads are 2% better than the national average and 25% better than their regional neighbours.
Cabinet member for Highways and Local County Cllr Ralph Sangster said:
“This is an independent and comprehensive endorsement of the hard work put in by our highways team over the last 4 years. Despite significant budgetary pressures and claims to the contrary we have been able to significantly improve the condition of our roads and keep Hertfordshire moving.
